Thanks for Nothin'
Well, I suppose that blogging about another Chicago teacher tossing his career out the window was bad karma. I lost my job, too. I was one of 1,100 Chicago teachers not renewed for the fall. I still get to work until June, though. Hooray. Please send Chicago-area teaching job postings or job search advice!

I'm so sorry! That really stinks and I hope that you find a new position soon. At least you didn't do something stupid to get fired. Unless, of course, all 1,100 of you mooned the mayor or something. That would be dumb. If your contract isn't renewed, are you considered to be laid off? Can you collect unemployment?
I'm sending good vibes your way...

I am paid for the summer, because CPS defers some of our earnings throughout the year to issue paychecks to us all summer long. As for unemployment, I am hoping that won't be an issue. I have May, June, July and early August to find a job.

Came here by way of Stolie. I have lots of teacher friends in Evanston and I'll ask them to keep an eye out.
Hang in there!
